Bobby Crispy - Forever Autumn (Instrumental) Played on two guitars. July 6, 2008.

"My life will be forever autumn. Cause you're not here"

Short version of a much-longer story...
When I was at IU, one of my most-treasured possessions was the deep and abiding friendship I had with a wonderful woman who was not only warm and kind, but also one of the most brilliant-yet-modest persons I've ever known, something I see so rarely here in South Florida -genuinely talented, down-to-earth people who are modest and not showy.

When she and I were both down about something or another, and we needed to cheer each other up, especially as I remember it, during the cold winters of Bloomington that could be more brutal than you think, she'd have me come over to her apt. and we'd fire up the oven and we'd bake some things and play some albums while sipping some of her famous tomato soup-plus.
And maybe some wine.

Frequently, she'd play the entire Jeff Wayne War of the Worlds album, as well as the version of this song from Hayward's Classic Blue album. http://youtu.be/VUcvXLzLPHE

When this song came up -one of my all-time favorite songs- she and I would both sing, and the thing is, despite the fact that almost everywhere else, I'd almost always been the person who knew this song the best and knew the exact phrasing pattern that Justin Hayward
employed, she was flat-out amazing.

It wasn't until one year when I happened to spend a holiday with her at her family's home a few hours away that I was shown an audiotape by her younger sister of her singing this song with some kids from her high school orchestra at some school show, and it was so powerful that I actually started crying while listening to it in her sister's bedroom.

When I asked her about it later, and specifically, why she'd never told me before that she'd sung this song before, and in front of good-sized crowds, she confided to me that she'd sung it then because the album she had had originally belonged to her favorite aunt, who died in a terrible accident while trying to help someone else who was in trouble, just weeks before she left for Bloomington.

She told me that when she sang this song, she always thought of her beloved aunt and that the emotion of her being so desperately missed was always right on the surface.
And so it was, which explained everything...
