Wow! Sofia in Umeå -a.k.a. Hia80- has four must-see home videos of Robyn performing at Skellefteå 2011 last Friday

Robyn - With every heartbeat - LIVE at Skellefteå 2011, July 1, 2011

Robyn, Sveriges popdrottning! (Robyn, Sweden's pop queen!)
Now THAT'S charisma!

Judging by the evidence, Sofia from up in Umeå looks to have not only scored some very good seats for Robyn's show last Friday in Stieg Larsson's neck of the woods in Skellefteå -near the front of the stage, no less- but she also kindly thought of all the Robyn fans out there in the blogosphere who craved a new video fix of this energetic dynamo, and Sofia has delivered big time.
All the customary moves we've come to expect from Robyn were there, too: the windmill arms, the shadow-boxing, the moon walking...

Sofia has very good audio and video quality, especially considering that she was clearly standing in an enthusiastic crowd of people going nuts.

Sofia's video reminds me of the amazing videos of the crowds at the Paramore concerts in STKHM that I alluded to last October here on the blog, when I compared and contrasted music lovers' lightning-like ability to use technology and share information/video thru YouTube, while the Miami Herald continued insulting their readers by playing second-rate Pony Express, and was NOT even able to get the score or game story for the first game of the 2010 World Series in the Broward edition of the paper the day after the game.
This, even though The New York Times that was printed in Fort Lauderdale and sold at the same places in Broward as the Herald had two pages of games coverage, plus photos.

That November 27th, 2010 post of mine was titled, How a video of Paramore in Stockholm and Razorlight at the Cuckoo Club, London -Friday night- proves the Miami Herald is too damn slow. Iceberg dead ahead!

My previous six posts on Robyn the past year are right here in chronological order:

Obviously, what she shot is slightly different than the film quality that you all got used to in my very popular post a few weeks back on Robyn, here, with SVT's amazing video of Robyn's concert in Copenhagen last year and the fascinating and amusing behind-the-scenes documentary at her concert in Stockholm, but it's still damn impressive nonetheless.

Now if only everyone did as good a job as Sofia of not only keeping their cool in the heat of the moment at a Robyn concert and keeping the focus on her -and largely avoiding everyone's hands up in the air!- and NOT blurting out things that get captured on film and distract from what's going on.

Great job, Sofia!
Two big thumbs up from South Florida! :-)

By the way, Sofia is also the very same person who three years ago uploaded the video of Frida Öhrn on SVT's Så ska det låta singing her version of the Dolly Parton classic "Jolene" that just knocked me out. http://youtu.be/aPYBGa_PsLo
Until Friday night when I was preparing this post, I'd completely forgotten that she was the one whose quick thinking was appreciated by so many, including yours truly, SO many miles away.

Super-talented Swedish songbird Robyn will be a guest on tonight's Jimmy Kimmel Live

Robyn - Hang With Me (Official Video)

Once I got back home from tonight's Hallandale Beach City Commission Workshop, leaving after just an hour due to boredom, leaving only one HB citizen in the Chambers, I decided to blow-off checking my email until I caught some things on the tube.

Which is why I only just found out that longtime HBB favorite, Swedish songbird Robyn, will be a guest tonight on Jimmy Kimmel Live at 12:05 a.m.

I will likely have video of her performance(s) here on the blog within the next next 36 hours, but until then, I'm going to leave you with three videos that connect to her.

The first, at top, is her wonderful video I posted here last July 28th:

With the second one, from one of the top advertising agencies in Iceland, ENNEMM, for the alcohol package stores that are a monopoly there, Vínbúðin, see if you can figure out why it's funny.

Många ville se Robyn i glasburen på torget

Av Karsten Bringmark

MALMÖ. – Skitkul att vara här.
Och det tyckte också många Malmöbor som följde Robyn i Musikhjälpens glasbur på Gustav Adolfs torg.
Jublet dränkte all julmusik efter hennes sång.
Fler hundra flockades framför glasburen när Robyn blev intervjuad, och smickrad av programvärdarna; hennes senaste visit i Musikhjälpen är det enskilt mest visade klippet.

This year's theme at the six-day Musikhjälpen 2010, www.Musikhjälpen.se was "Barn är inte till salu!" -Children are not for sale- as funds raised went to groups involved in fighting child labor, child prostitution and child soldiers, the later of which is a particularly serious problem in Africa and Asia.

For more information and compelling videos of these problems in Moldavia and Senegal, please see: http://sverigesradio.se/sida/gruppsida.aspx?programid=3946&grupp=13003

Trust me, the videos will really get to you, too.

Back on November 22nd, the Miami Herald ran a short piece on Robyn on their PEOPLE page in the first section of the newspaper, under the header, Robyn earns Swede revenge.

Really.

And as if that wasn't dopey enough, it used the words "teeny-bop star" in the very first sentence.

I snapped this shot of it that day at the Panera Bread here in Hallandale Beach, mostly to show those of you overseas or at least out of HB, how truly lame the newspaper
is when it tries to appear hip.

Or, actually, tries anything these days. #Fail

Updated Wednesday December 22, 2010

I usually try NOT to go back to individual posts days after-after-the-fact, except in rare cases where there's an inadvertent spelling mistake I catch, a dead link someone tells me about, or some mistaken information that might prove troublesome, but I make an exception now and then when I think it's appropriate and today is such a day.

Today, it's specifically because of something that I found out about thru a friend that I think might add to what I wrote above.

Since I initially posted above, a fashion-forward friend in Sweden who read what I wrote -but who wasn't at Musikhjälpen- has sent me an email with a link to an interesting blog that is the handiwork of a really personable, talented -
and very cute!- woman in Malmö, one of the world's great university towns, who is a combination student, Ford model, blogger and dancer, and did I mention, DJ?

I think I was looking for someone like her the whole time I was in Bloomington at IU, that is, if blogging technology has existed then.

IF only I had had a blog back then!

Besides, how can you not love a woman who writes at the end of her blog profile: "Pluggar konst på vardagarna och dansar om nätterna. Life is good!"

Lina Sandberg is this blogger's name and her blog is icihttp://lina.metromode.se/

Lina is one of the more popular bloggers on the very popular Metromode.se blog network, which tends to focus on women's fashion and related subjects, a lifestyle and demographic that advertisers desperately want to be simpatico with, whether in the U.S. or Europe.

Well, anyway, Lina actually was at the Robyn concert in Malmö for a bit, and has some photos of her day that are worth checking out. In fact, she even played DJ for a bit before Rebecca & Fiona did their thing.

I hope to have more about the wildly-popular Rebecca & Fiona in an upcoming blog post, but for now, here's the URL for the post Lina wrote about this past weekend:

*Speaking of Robyns, if anyone out there in the blogosphere knows the whereabouts of the beautiful and beguiling Robyn Hunter, originally from Ft. Smith Arkansas, The Washington School of Ballet in Washington D.C., volunteered at Crisis Hotlines in suburban Maryland, who worked for Perseus at the Army-Navy Building in Washington, D.C., and who is possessed of an absolutely amazing voice and sense of humor, please let me know at the email address above.* I will be eternally grateful.

The last time I can remember a song this catchy that I liked that also featured a carnival ride in the video was the late Kirsty MacColl in "New England."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fwtFSEovro

Last July I sent out this email to some friends around the country who'd known me for quite some time, and I thought since Kirsty's name popped into my head again, I'd include an excerpt here:

...after watching an old video of her singing "New England" that a friend sent a link to me of yesterday, completely out-of-the-blue. His reason for sending it?

Turns out that last week, he'd run into a former girlfriend of mine -with a fabulous voice- on a flight from D.C. back to Chicago, who used to sing/play that song all-the-time
.

And a few hours later, after that trip to the 1980's via the South Beach Hoosier Time Machine, when I first turned on my computer after watching Wimbledon, this awful story over at the beach just jumped off the Sun-Sentinel's website.

Divers hit by speeding boat off Hollywood Beach

BY JOSE PAGLIERY, The Miami Herald
2:51 PM EDT, July 5, 2009

A boat traveling dangerously close to the Hollywood Beach shore slammed into two divers Sunday morning before gunning its engines and disappearing.
A third diver was not injured....

Both victims, a father and son, were quickly transported to hospitals nearby, according to Hollywood Fire Rescue.

Someone needs to really make an example of these people on the boat who tried to mow down some innocent people today, and thought they could get away with it.

Lately, it seems like every other time I'm at the beach, especially in Hallandale Beach near the iconic Water Tower, whether reading the newspaper or doing some writing, esp. when the water is flat, I see some near-misses that make me anxious as people on the boats completely ignore the lifeguard's whistles, just taunting them.

One of these days...
